President of Hockey Operations

Jason Stewart

Jason brings over 20 years of experience as a certified educator, coach, and WHL scout. He co-founded Frontier Selects, a leading youth hockey academy initiative in Southern California. His career includes teaching and coaching at the Edge School in Calgary and St. Francis Xavier High School in Edmonton. Jason also founded Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX), a top hockey school in Western Canada competing in the CSSHL, where he served on the Executive Committee as Director-at-Large and Vice-Chairperson. He has worked extensively with student-athletes, helping them succeed and advance to junior, college, and professional hockey.

LP Hockey

Luke Pierce is a seasoned hockey professional with over 16 years of experience guiding athletes and teams through some of the highest levels of Canadian junior hockey, including his most recent stint as Head Coach of the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings. Known for his ability to build strong team cultures and develop high-performing individuals, Luke now brings that same passion and expertise to mentoring families and athletes as they navigate the complex world of hockey development.

Shyft Hockey

Matthew Tassone is co-owner of Shyft Hockey and is a former professional hockey player of 6 years, having spent time in the AHL and ECHL. Since his retirement, Matt has worked in the player development industry since 2016, as well as coached at the U15 and U18 levels. Currently, Matt is the director of player personnel with the Drumheller Dragons (AJHL) and Director of Hockey Operations with the Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club.

Mental Edge Hockey

Sandy Cohan is a nationally recognized mindset development coach, speaker, and author, and the founder of Mental Edge Hockey — a hockey-specific mindset coaching company that helps players build confidence, focus, and mental toughness that translates directly to performance. Through one-on-one coaching, team training, and online courses, Mental Edge Hockey delivers real-world tools that develop belief, grit, discipline, and emotional control—without the fluff. His work is trusted by parents, athletes, coaches, and organizations across North America who want more than just skill development—they want players who are locked in.

R and D Performance

Owner, and Mental Performance Coach, Nick Johnson is a former professional hockey player, drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round of the 2004 NHL Draft. He played several seasons with the Penguins organization before playing for the Minnesota Wild, Phoenix Coyotes, and Boston Bruins; ultimately playing over 100 NHL games. Nick later competed in the Swedish Hockey League for the Växjö Lakers and Brynäs ‘Saturday Tigers’ to close out his 9-year playing career. Nick attended Dartmouth College in the Ivy League from 2004-2008 and earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology. Later, once he finished his hockey career, he completed a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Athabasca University. Nick is keen on aiding athletes with their mental health by using focused and holistic methods; while also providing them with personalized tools and frameworks for achieving peak performance.

Mike Carlsen

Mike Carlsen

Mike, a Kelowna, B.C. native, has been deeply involved in hockey from an early age. Pursuing his passion, he ventured to Denmark to play junior hockey, ultimately spending seven seasons competing in the Elite and First Divisions. Upon returning to Canada, Mike earned a Bachelor of Business and Entrepreneurship in Sport and Recreation from Mount Royal University in Calgary.
 
During his final year of university, Mike was offered a coaching position at the Edge School for Athletes, marking the beginning of a successful coaching career. Over the next 15 years, he contributed to the development of players at renowned institutions, including the Edge School, Swiss International School and Education Center (SISEC), Peak Academy, and Fernie Academy. Mike is certified by Hockey Canada as a High Performance Level 1 coach.
 
Throughout his career, Mike has worked extensively with minor hockey and junior players, focusing on skill development and off-ice strength and conditioning. His dedication to the sport and commitment to helping players achieve their full potential—both as athletes and individuals—remain at the core of his coaching philosophy.

ATC Goaltending

ATC Goaltending is passionate about coaching goalies of all ages/skill levels along their journey of playing goal. Armed with almost two decades of experience, they will help you navigate the technical, tactical, mental, and emotional components of playing in the net. Regardless of age/level/ the position of goaltender is difficult – they are here to help ease the burden and support you in any way possible. Developing relationships that last long after an ice time is our goal – they want to pass on their experience and expertise in the hopes that they help you make one more save each time.

 

 

Jamie McCaig  is the owner of ATC Goaltending and has been a full-time goalie coach for the past 18 years. Jamie played Junior A in the BCHL and AJHL, USport at the University of Lethbridge, and professionally in the WCHL and ECHL. Jamie has been a Junior A/WHL goalie coach for the past 14 seasons, where he has helped move numerous goalies on to the NCAA, USport, SPHL, ECHL, AHL, and NHL. Jamie is currently the goalie coach for Alberni Valley (BCHL), Camrose Kodiaks (AJHL), NAIT men’s hockey team (ACAC), and the Junior Oilers U18AAA White (AEHL) team.

High-performance coach, endurance athlete, and Aerospace Engineering PhD candidate

Emily Bond

Emily is a high-performance coach, endurance athlete, and Aerospace Engineering PhD candidate. Her work sits at the intersection of self-leadership, resilience, ambition, and sustainable performance. Emily supports athletes to strengthen the internal foundations that make performance sustainable — self-trust, emotional regulation under pressure, discipline, and identity beyond results. Through the Becoming process, Emily helps athletes navigate pressure, setbacks, injury, uncertainty, and transition with greater internal stability — so they can perform more consistently and grow beyond sport.

PSK Academics

Paula Smith Kezar is an accomplished educator and business leader with over 25 years of experience in the education sector. With a strong academic background, including an MBA, a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), and an Education After Degree, Paula has dedicated her career to fostering academic excellence and supporting students in reaching their full potential. In addition to her extensive work in education, Paula is the CEO of PSK Academic Consulting, where she leads a team focused on providing tailored educational solutions for students in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence. Her consulting expertise spans academic coaching, creative graduation planning, and educational strategy, with a passion for creating pathways to success for learners of all backgrounds.
